In his article, "The Effect of Charter Schools on Charter Students and Public Schools," Eric Bettinger gives an inside glance at the effectiveness of charter schools and how they compare to neighboring public schools. In order to give examples of the progress of these schools, Bettinger includes test scores of charter school students as well as public school students. His studies show that in the Michigan area, charter school's grades did not improve in comparison to public school's test scores. The results of his studies show that charter schools do not have an advantage when it comes to test scores when being compared to its neighboring public schools.
